A: SOLIDU products (except PURITY and 20 SECONDS) are not soaps. SOLIDU haircare products contain shampoo or conditioner ingredients, we‘ve just removed the water to make it solid.
SOLIDU works the same as your liquid products work, it‘s just better for the planet Earth.
A: They are very easy to use and work the same as liquid ones do, just in a more concentrated form! Foam up the shampoo bar with the help of water and gently go over your scalp with it. Then massage it into your hair. Rinse with water and repeat if needed. If your hair craves it, use a conditioner afterwards.
A: SOLIDU shampoos last the same, maybe even longer, than a shampoo bottle lasts – about 30 to 50 washes. It is a small, but highly concentrated product. Obviously, everyone is different and have different requirements for their hair.
Our best advice to help the products last is to allow them to dry between washes. Don‘t store it in the shower and keep it in a dry place on one of our natural luffa holders. The same goes with our conditioners, soaps and body butter.
A: After each use, let the bar dry, don’t keep it in or under water. You can store it on our natural luffa holder to ensure it dries thoroughly. Only once it is fully dry can you use the black compostable packaging to store the bar. Don’t store a wet product inside the compostable packaging – it is designed to quickly disintegrate in water!
A: This solid butter can be used post showering or bathing, as it comfortably melts on warm & slightly damp skin proving lasting moisturization and soothing. You can re-apply as needed during the day. Massage the body butter into certain body parts and spread it all over the body by hand.
You can also use the bar for a back massage!
A: This is difficult to answer because every body is different and has different requirements for nourishing the skin. IT‘S THYME is a small, but highly concentrated product, therefore we recommend not spreading it all over your body (even though it is very tempting…). Instead, massage it onto certain parts of your body and spread it out with your palms. The duration of the bar will completely depend on how much and how often your body requires application.
A: IT‘S THYME is the only product that will be delivered to you with a 100% natural rubber band.
Since the body butter is not used with water, it can be kept inside the original packaging and the rubber band will assure that the product will not fall out while traveling.
It is very important to remember that in hot weather conditions it is hot not only for you, but also for your body butter. IT‘S THYME does not like high heat and is so dramatic that it will start to melt when it gets too hot. On hot summer days you might consider keeping it in the fridge.
A: Especially in the summer months or in hot climates, it’s possible for some of our products to melt while in transit. Our conditioners and body butter are particularly susceptible and the parcel delivery boxes can turn into ovens! To avoid disappointment in hot climates or seasons, we recommend purchasing meltable products at your local shop. Once they’ve arrived, keep meltable products in a cool spot away from direct sunlight.
A: Children older than 3 can use SOLIDU products but only if they are not allergic to the ingredients, like natural essential oils. Children under the age of 3 should not use SOLIDU cosmetics because all cosmetics for that age should to be specifically tested and certified, which our products have not gone through.
A: We do not have a shampoo with ingredients that are able to cure the scalp from dandruff. These shampoos are specially formulated and are usually found in pharmacies. If you have severe dandruff and want to properly treat it, we recommend speaking to your local pharmacy.
If you still want to try SOLIDU shampoo, try GRANDMA SAID. This shampoo has nettle extract and tamanu oil, which are believed to be very nourishing and calming for the scalp.
A: We recommend you to give EXOTIC or PINK a try. They are both formulated for hair that isn‘t too oily or too dry, they are perfect for everyday care.
PINK is formulated with peony root extract, coconut, olive oils, vitamin E, and panthenol (provitamin B5), which perfectly nurture and protect your scalp and hair.
EXOTIC has vitamin E, coconut oil, mango, and cocoa butters and gently cleanses the scalp and hair, leaving it clean, conditioned and volumized.
A: Sadly, no shampoo can treat hair falling out. Shampoo is desinged to cleanse the scalp and hair. Hair falling out is related to changes in the body, such as malnutrition, stress and many other unhealthy factors. If you still want to try SOLIDU shampoo, try GRANDMA SAID. This shampoo is very gentle, and may suit your needs. It is made with organic nettle, which stimulates the scalp. GRANDMA SAID also has tamanu oil, which is loaded with fatty acids, antioxidants, and other ingredients that act as anti inflammatory, moisturising factors.
A: At the moment we have not created a product for sensitive scalp, but we are working on it – stay tuned!
Current SOLIDU products have essential oils in their ingredient lists, which might cause allergies for people that are prone to that. If you know that you are sensitive to certain cosmetic ingredients, we highly recommend you to check the ingredients list that you can find under every product!
A: If you have dry hair but your scalp is not affected by dandruff, we would suggest you use GRANDMA SAID shampoo and follow up with one of our conditioners. This will ensure you are giving your scalp a good clean while also nurishing and protecting your hair.
A: If your hair tends to entangle easily, NO KNOTS conditioner is perfect for you!
NO KNOTS will easily detangle your hair, add softness, smoothness and gloss, and will make it easy to brush out. It is loaded with mango butter, jojoba oil and amino acids from natural silk.
A: We have not yet created a shampoo that is intended for chemically treated hair. Our best advice would be PINK shampoo – it is gentle and has a conditioning effect.
If your hair has been lightened chemically, we would advise you to avoid using GRANDMA SAID shampoo – it might affect your desired tone.
A: If you are used to using a liquid conditioner, ditch the water and make it solid! We have HAIR CANDY, enriched with argan oil and shea butter, and NO KNOTS, made of mango, cacao butters, jojoba oil and silk amino acids.
Using a hair conditioner after shampooing makes the hair smoother, reduces frizz, helps makes brushing your hair easier and overall makes it healthier, softer, and adds a lot of shine. Sounds like a dream!
A: IT‘S THYME is our body butter, which, of course, is solid! It contains cocoa, shea and murumuru butters, black cumin oil and thyme essential oil. The solid form allows us to skip the plastic packaging altogether while retaining all the benefits of the superior oils contained within this bar. IT’S THYME is packed with only the best skin-loving natural oils and does not contain artificial (petroleum-based) humectants or fragrances.
A: All of our products are suitable for vegans with the exception of:
NO KNOTS conditioner – we use silk amino acids in this bar but we make sure that the silk comes from the silkworm‘s cocoons after they have grown up into moths and fly off to do moth things. While NO KNOTS cannot be considered vegan, it can be classified as vegetarian.
Natural Lip Balm – We use lanolin and beeswax to create our lip balm however no animals are harmed in the process of collecting the raw ingredients.
A: We only use preservatives in our shampoos and conditioners. Our soaps, body butter and lip balm do not contain any preservatives.
Parabens are a type of preservative and you will not find them in our products. Instead, we use Benzyl Alcohol – a preservative that is aprooved by ECOCERT, COSMOS and other organisations that guarantee environmentally friendly production and healthy processing.
Using preservatives in our shampoos and conditioners ensures that the products do not contain any harmful microorganisms, such as mold and bacteria. It also allows for the product to have longer expiration.
On the other hand, we can avoid using preservatives in our other products because soaps have an alkaline pH and our body butter and lip balms are not made with water, which create impossible environments for microorganisms to live in.
A: SOLIDU products do not contain SLS or SLES. SLS and SLES are strong detergents that are extracted from petroleum and there is a common misconception that SLS and SLES equals all sulfates. However, sulfates are an extremely broad group of substances that are quite common in the cosmetics industry. Sulfates help remove any oils, dead skin, and dirt build-up on the skin, leaving it fresh, clean, and unclogged. Therefore, in some SOLIDU products we use Sodium Coco Sulfate and Behentrimonium Methosulfate.
Sodium Coco Sulfate is a gentle sulfate of natural origin, a mild alternative for SLS.
Behentrimonium Methosulfate is also of natural origin, is very gentle and is broadly used for its emulsifying and conditioning properties.
If you really want to use a shampoo without any sulfates, we suggest you to choose either BALANCE or PINK. You can find the compositions for each SOLIDU product on their product pages.
A: SOLIDU products contain small amounts of RSPO certified (sustainably sourced) palm oil. Even though we only use RSPO oil, we would prefer going palm-free. However, in today‘s cosmetics industry almost all of the naturally-derived materials are at least partially derived from palm. We value transparency, so very soon you will be able to find the percentage of palm oil in each SOLIDU product on our website.
A: Natural essential oil mixtures are used for all but one of our products, the exception being our EXOTIC shampoo, which contains a very small amount (less than 0.1%) of allergen-free synthetic vanilla. Natural vanilla is a very rare and non-sustainable resource. The synthetic vanilla we use is also allergen-free. Both of these reasons have convinced us that the better alternative is the synthetic option.
If that is a deal-breaker for you, don‘t worry. You can choose any other SOLIDU shampoo and utilize just the essential oils. Find out more about our scents: HOW DO SOLIDU PRODUCTS SMELL?
